GPs are warning that overstretched surgeries could close and waiting times get even longer if NHS bosses force them to take on extra work, including regular visits to care homes.

Family doctors in England claim that NHS bosses’ plans for them to assume five new duties of care from April are “unacceptable and completely unworkable” given the widespread acute shortages of GPs.
