With everything else that has been happening do not lose sight of the 'consultation' survey which was biased and flawed. It is important that this is not accepted as valid evidence to justify reducing The Co-operative Group's support for the growth of Co-operatives or the Co-operative Party which is needed to protect Co-operatives in the harsh political environment. Support by Co-operative Societies for the Co-operative Party has nothing to do with the political affiliations of their Members or their shoppers. They are of course, as individuals, able to support whichever political party or campaign that they wish. Support for the Co-operative Party, by Societies, is about what is needed for the Co-operative Movement and the Society as an organisation. It is the duty of Boards of Directors and management to work in the political interests of the Society.
