Co-operative candidates in local elections

Hundreds of co-operators will be standing as candidates in today’s English local elections. Of those standing in the polls, 140 candidates are standing under the Labour/Co-operative banner, and are all official representatives of the Co-operative Party through its sister partnership with Labour. There are currently 1,600 Labour/Co-operative councillors in place. The Party also estimates that hundreds more of its members are also standing in elections, but not under the official Labour/Co-op banner.
